Sesquicentennial Pictorial History Book

The Clay County Historical Society is proud to announce the coming publication of a new, comprehensive pictorial history of Vermillion. From the River to the Rising Bluff: A pictorial history of Vermillion, South Dakota 1859-2009 is due from the printer in Summer 2008. Written by local historian Tom Thaden, with the assistance of fellow members Cleo Erickson and Joe Reedy, this book provides pictures and details of a Vermillion that many have never experienced or known before.

The book will consist of 302 pages and have 624 pictures covering the many different facets of life in Vermillion. Many of the pictures have never been published before and provide a new view of life in Vermillion over the past 150 years.

According to the copy editor for the publishing company, it is an extraordinary book that is well written and meticulously organized with photos that are of excellent quality. When completed and available, this marvelous publication will be priced at $35.00 per copy, plus shipping and handling.
