About the Center
The Clay Area Emergency Services Communication Center is a partnership between the City of Vermillion and Clay County overseen by a 5-member advisory board composed of the:
Staff
The Communication Center is staffed by one director and seven full-time dispatchers.
Services
This Department provides radio communications 24/7, 365 days per year, toll-free voice (911) and TDD telephone access for the Police Department, Highway Patrol, and Sheriff's Office.
Emergency Calls
All emergency calls for the following are dispatched from the Communications Center at the Public Safety Center:
- Ambulance
- Fire
- Law enforcement
- Rescue services
Other Services
In addition, the Clay Area Emergency Services Communication Center answers telephone calls, manages emergency paging and radio traffic for the following services and agencies:
- South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks
- South Dakota Department of Transportation
- Clay County Highway Department
- City Utilities
- Civil Defense
