Mission Statement

The mission of the Vermillion Fire EMS Department is to provide emergency services for the City of Vermillion, South Dakota and surrounding Clay County including mutual aid for nearby communities. The Vermillion Fire EMS Department responds to fires, accidents, rescues, medical emergencies, mutual-aid calls and other threats to public safety and property from both natural and man-made disasters. As first responders to emergencies, all Department personnel have the primary goal of saving lives and minimizing property loss by providing prompt and courteous service with the highest level of professionalism. Furthermore, the Department's mission is to educate the public about fire safety through community involvement and community education.
