Department Overview

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Golf currently maintains 135 acres of park land and right-of-ways, provides recreational facilities and programs available to all residents, and manages the Bluffs Golf Course. Our mission is to provide recreation activities to the citizens of Vermillion; to provide recreation that is wholesome, safe, educational, and available to all individuals, including:
  • Adults
  • Persons with special needs
  • Senior Citizens
  • Youth

Announcements
  • Barstow Ice Rink is open! Warming house hours for Jan 27th-Jan 31st will be 3-6pm. Free Ice Skate rental and skating trainers are available during warming house hours. Ice rink availability subject to change if ice conditions become unsafe.
  • Registration for Adult City league Basketball is now open. Visit our Register for an Activity to register.
  • Youth Wrestling registration is now open. Visit our Register for an Activity page to register. Contact Marty Nygren at 605-670-1711 with any questions.
  • Lion’s Campground will be closing November 25th for renovations. The campground will reopen Summer 2020.
  • Vermillion Parks and Recreation is now taking applications for Spring/Summer seasonal employment, to view a list of Jobs and to apply, visit the employment page.

​​The City of Vermillion works with the Department of Social Services to provide discounts towards Prentis Plunge passes and other Parks and Recreation Programs. Individuals should contact the Department of Social Services at 605-677-6800 or 114 S. Market Street to determine eligibility.
