Department Overview

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Golf currently maintains 135 acres of park land and right-of-ways, provides recreational facilities and programs available to all residents, and manages the Bluffs Golf Course. Our mission is to provide recreation activities to the citizens of Vermillion; to provide recreation that is wholesome, safe, educational, and available to all individuals, including:
  • Adults
  • Persons with special needs
  • Senior Citizens
  • Youth

Friday February 15th at the Barstow Ice Rink Warming House from 11am-5:30pm we will be having free hot chocolate and cookies for all skaters. Free ice skate rental will be available during warming house hours.

Barstow Ice Rink is Open! Warming house hours are Monday-Friday 3:30-6:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 1-5pm, Free Ice skate Rental is available during warming house hours.

2019 Summer Recreation Baseball/Softball Registration is now open! Visit our Recreation Activities and Registration page to register!

2019 Baseball/Softball Dakota Dome Classic is cancelled this year for renovations to the Dakota Dome.



​​The City of Vermillion works with the Department of Social Services to provide discounts towards Prentis Plunge passes and other Parks and Recreation Programs. Individuals should contact the Department of Social Services at 605-677-6800 or 114 S. Market Street to determine eligibility.
