The City of Vermillion has one vacancy, due to resignation, on the Planning and Zoning Commission. The term of appointment expires June 2022. To be eligible for this position the individual must be a resident of Vermillion. If interested, an Expression of Interest form can be submitted on-line via the City’s website (paper versions of the form are available in the Administration Office at City Hall). Completed Expression of Interest forms are due in the City Manager’s office by noon on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. It is anticipated that City Council will make an appointment at their March 18, 2019 meeting.
The Planning Commission is responsible for the Comprehensive Plan (PDF) and the physical development of the City, including areas outside the boundaries of the City and within the joint jurisdictional area. The Planning Commission reviews and comments on all plans, plats, or re-plats of subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land embraced in the City and platting jurisdiction area, laid out in lots or plats with the streets, alleys, or other portions of the same intended to be dedicated to the public. In addition, the Planning Commission accepts and makes decisions on all conditional uses identified in the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council.
