The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has reduced the speed limit on the HWY 50 Bypass from 50mph to 40mph.
The project consists of the removal of the in-place curb and gutter, the widening of the roadway, adding shoulders, pipe extensions, storm sewer placement, street lighting and asphalt concrete resurfacing. To do this work, the SDDOT has narrowed the roadway from 5 lanes to 2 lanes and is maintaining two-way traffic in the middle of the roadway. The reduced regulatory speed limit will be utilized for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to conclude in the late fall. Please use extra caution when utilizing the bypass.
