Vermillion Human Relations Commission Member Search

On June 18, 2018, the City Council approved Ordinance 1377 to create, provide structure, and responsibilities for a Human Relations Commission. The board of directors disseminate information and conduct public meetings regarding diversity recognition and anti-discriminatory practice, engage and cooperate with persons in organizations interested in similar objectives, and otherwise act to promote human and civil rights for all citizens and visitors of Vermillion.  The Commission also receives complaints related to discrimination in employment, labor organizations, housing, providing public accommodations or services, banking, and in general circumstances.

Six of the seven terms of office are for three years. The seventh term is designated as a one-year term to be filled by an individual enrolled in post-secondary education. Three terms expire in May 2023. One term is 1-year and is for a post-secondary student which will expire in May 2024. The other two terms are for three years and will expire in May 2026. To be eligible for this Board position, you must be a resident of Vermillion. If interested, please complete an Expression of Interest form can be submitted via the City’s website.

Completed Expression of Interest Forms are due in the City Manager’s office by Noon on Thursday, April 13, 2023. It is anticipated that City Council will appoint members to the board at their April 17 meeting.
