In 2022, the Vermillion City Council approved funding for the renovation of the Lions Park Campground. In addition to City funding, the campground was awarded a grant from the Land, Water, and Conservation Fund.
Renovations to the Park will include five modern style campsites and amenities including two fully accessible ADA sites, the reinstallation of the playground with ADA compliant safety surfacing, a new picnic shelter, park lighting, and the planting of new trees.
Work has already begun in the area with the removal of the playground equipment, electric pedestals, trees, and old water lines. These items needed to be removed to allow for proper drainage grading to improve the overall functionality of the park.
The campground is closed during this time and the City asks that the public stay out of the area for safety reasons. Renovations are scheduled to be completed late this summer.
