As of Thursday, March 19th, no positive cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been identified in Clay County; however, as a precautionary measure based on CDC recommendations of social distancing, the City of Vermillion will be closing City Offices to the public. The intention of this closure is precautionary out of consideration for the safety and health of City residents and Staff.
The closure will take effect Monday, March 23rd. Offices will be closed to the public for the entire week of March 23 – March 27. Please be aware that the time-frame of this closure is subject to change based on the rapidly evolving nature surrounding the pandemic.
While our doors will be closed, rest assured that serving the public remains our top priority. The City is committed to maintaining business operations and essential services while making efforts to protect the health of City employees and slow the spread of COVID-19. While exercising CDC guidelines for social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols, Staff will continue to operate and provide services to the community. Citizens are asked to contact departments and offices via phone, email, and by utilizing online services. Visit the city website at www.vermillion.us for contact information.
We want to take time to thank community members for their understanding and patience during this time as we work through this together. Our primary concern is for the safety and health of Vermillion citizens and employees as we continue to monitor current circumstances and conditions. Vermillion is a community that shows up and pulls together to help those in need. It is odd to consider, that the best way we can pull together in this time is to stay apart. Please, if you are sick, STAY HOME. If working from home is available and practical, please STAY HOME. Together we will get through this time of uncertainty.
