ELIGIBILITY

To serve on any City board or commission, you must be a resident of Vermillion. If you are interested in serving on any of the boards/commissions listed below, please complete an Expression of Interest form that can be submitted via the City’s website. 

HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

The mission of the Vermillion Historic Preservation Commission is to protect, preserve, and restore Vermillion’s historic and cultural assets through public education, workshops, and outreach to the community.

The City of Vermillion has one vacancy, due to resignation, on the Historic Preservation Commission. The term expires in July 2021. Expression of Interest Forms are due by Thursday, April 16, 2020. It is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their April 20, 2020 meeting.

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION

The board of directors disseminate information and conduct public meetings regarding diversity recognition and anti-discriminatory practice, engage and cooperate with persons in organizations interested in similar objectives, and otherwise act to promote human and civil rights for all citizens and visitors of Vermillion. The Commission also receives complaints related to discrimination in employment, labor organizations, housing, providing public accommodations or services, banking, and in general circumstances. 

The City of Vermillion currently has four vacancies, due to term expiration and resignation, on the Human Relations Commission.
 
One term is for 1-year and is for a post-secondary student which will expire in May 2021. One term is to fill the vacated seat to expire in May of 2021. The other two terms are for three years and will expire in May 2023. Expression of Interest Forms are due by Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Noon. It is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their May 4, 2020 meeting.

LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Vermillion Public Library is governed by a six member Board of Trustees, which meets in the Library once a month. Board members serve terms of 3 years that expire in May and are appointed by the the City Council.

Presently, the City of Vermillion has two vacancies, due to term expiration, on the Library Board of Trustees.The terms will expire in June 2023. Expression of Interest Forms are due by Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Noon. It is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their May 4, 2020 meeting.
