PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
The Planning Commission is responsible for the Comprehensive Plan (PDF) and the physical development of the City, including areas outside the boundaries of the City and within the joint jurisdictional area. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviews and comments on all plans, plats, or re-plats of subdivisions or re-subdivisions of land embraced in the City and platting jurisdiction area, laid out in lots or plats with the streets, alleys, or other portions of the same intended to be dedicated to the public. In addition, the Planning Commission accepts and makes decisions on all conditional uses identified in the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. Terms are for five years.
The City of Vermillion currently has five vacancies, due to term expiration, on the Planning and Zoning Commission. All terms expire in June 2025. Expression of Interest forms are due by Wednesday July 1, 2020 at 5pm. It is anticipated that the City Council will make an appointment at their July 6, 2020 meeting.
