We Put the "Home" Back in Homecoming

VHS Homecoming Parade 2020 news: As expected, plans for traditional Homecoming festivities in Vermillion School District are being altered a bit this year to keep things as safe as possible, maintain social distancing, but still plan for a chance to celebrate our youth and create a meaningful experience for the community.
 
The Vermillion Homecoming parade this year is best described as a backward or “stand-still” parade. To recognize the hard work of each of our schools, we are going to lead a parade of cars through/by each of the schools of Vermillion.  The parade of cars--filled with supportive community and business members, vintage cars, and plenty of noise--from local law enforcement and fire department vehicles.
 
The students throughout the district will stay “home” on their campuses, allowing the individual schools to organize as best suits their age, spacing, and comfort level.  The students and staff will line their campus properties at designated times for the parade of well-wishers to drive by, honk, cheer, etc., for the students. 
 
The car route will begin lining up on Carr street around 1:30-1:45 on October 2. There will be a pilot car to lead the route around the Middle school campus, down Dartmouth to Austin school, circling twice there, then down Main Street to University to head to Jolley school. There the parade will circle the campus twice and head on to Lewis Street to St. Agnes school, and then on to the final campus of the high school via Lewis and Norbeck.

The parade will culminate by circling the campus, cutting through the parking lot to celebrate with students lining the street and parking lot in class-size groups. Law enforcement will be assisting with regular traffic at lights along the route.  Please consider joining us as we celebrate our students and keep some traditions alive.
